Story
I almost sold my electric guitar in 2018. Instead, it came with me on the ferry and over the Tasman Sea. I uprooted my life to study and set sail on some new adventures. This song was recorded on a Strawberry Full Moon (28 June 2026), along with another song in a day's session. Recently tidied up some of the engineering.
Originally written in 2012 on a dare from my bandmates in The Manuka Hunnies, who were teasing me about not learning barre chords. So I wrote a song with a Bm oozing all over it. 'How Do You Make A Great Love?' is a song about dignity and transformation even in times that might be challenging..be they Tempest storms, natural disasters or otherwise.
Lyrics
How Do You Make A Great Love? (2012 Diaz)
How do you make a great love, a great love?
How do you make it great?
How do you keep things flowing like the calmest seas?
Keep The Tempest away?
-
Ch:
Why do we make it harder than it has to be?
Why do we make it harder?
Oh, we can keep our dignity, our sanity?
Yeah, there's a way to be, just be.
--
I used to think I walked upon solid ground
until the walls came down.
Structures I used to know , called my own
crumbled fast, leaving ruins in my path.

Ch:
Why do we make it harder than it has to be?
Why do we make it harder?
Oh, we can keep our dignity, our sanity?
Yeah, there's a way to be, just be.
-
Bridge:
Here's my tabula rasa
of growth possibilities -
A different kind of lightness
washing over me.
