Story

These are the first song lyrics that I'd ever written. I hadn't learnt an instrument at the time. I titled it 'Everyday Song' and put down the verses but never a chorus. When I began playing guitar about 10 years later, I found the lyrics in an old notebook and the chorus was born quite quickly. 'Everyday Song' became a real song.

Lyrics

Everybody needs an Everyday Song

To get you through the everyday throng

Of birth and death and in-between

For most of us the average scene

*

Chorus:

Well, everyone, yeah, everyone goes away

Yeah, everyone, yeah, everyone goes away

*

Everyday I build a karmic bridge

With links to people all-around

Good or evil I forge a trail

That I have to walk along

*

It's not unusual at the end of the day

To feel spent and needy in some way

Feeling passed along on the conveyor belt

Of human trouble and pained self-doubt

*

Chorus:

Well, everyone, yeah, everyone goes away

Yeah, everyone, yeah, everyone goes away

Yeah, everyone goes away someday

*

Can't blame others when you've lost the glow

The way you play or treat your soul

Toil and tumble and fall in-line

Losing track of what's divine

*

Chorus:

Well, everyone, yeah, everyone goes away

Yeah, everyone, yeah, everyone goes away

Yeah, everyone goes away someday

Everyone goes away Someday

Everyone, Everyone, Someday

Everyone, Everyone, Someday

Everyone, Everyone, Someday
