How Do You Make A Great Love? (2019 Demo)

by Lynette Diaz

Written in 2012, my Manuka Hunnies bandmates dared me to write a song with a Bm chord, as I was having trouble with barre chords. A sequence of aftershocks from the 2011 Christchurch quakes & lifequakes influenced this song of self-care and dignity, no doubt.

How Do You Make A Great Love? (2012 Diaz)

How do you make a great love, a great love?

How do you make it great?

How do you keep things flowing like the calmest seas?

    Keep The Tempest away?

    -

    Ch:

Why do we make it harder than it has to be?

Why do we make it harder?

Oh, we can keep our dignity, our sanity?

Yeah, there's a way to be, just be.

    --

I used to think I walked upon solid ground

    until the walls came down.

Structures I used to know , called my own

crumbled fast, leaving ruins in my path.

    -

    Ch:

Why do we make it harder than it has to be?

Why do we make it harder?

Oh, we can keep our dignity, our sanity?

Yeah, there's a way to be, just be.

    -

    Bridge:

    Here's my tabula rasa

    of growth possibilities -

    A different kind of lightness

    washing over me.

    -

    Chx2

NOTES
Originally a Garageband Demo from a mid-2018 recording session where I was experimenting with my electric guitar, along with bass line and harmonies. Finally has a bit of re-engineering done to tidy it up. (May 2019)
