About Me

Lynette Diaz

Lynette Diaz is an award-winning Singer-Songwriter, whose style and delivery evoke flashes of traditional folk music, while writing contemporary themes of  love and dignity.

"I started music late in life. At the age of 37, picked up a guitar needing an outlet while my personal life was in transition and upheaval.  Wrote my first song a few months later and performed it at an open mic at the Christchurch Folk Music Club. The encouragement moved me on a musical path that included recording songs, collaborating with other musicians and releasing a CD the following year. Winning two songwriting awards for my tune, 'Living Before Dying' was the icing on the cake that first year."

Lynette continues to develop skills as a solo performer and songwriter. She has also teamed up with several Christchurch-based artists over the years. Most notably, playing alongside NZ award winning fingerstyle guitarist, Susan L. Grant. Together they form the core of the all-female band, ‘Manuka Hunnies’.

"The New Zealand music community has enriched my life and supported me. I try to acknowledge that and give back through my words, music and the way I conduct myself in the world."

You'll find, a bit of raw abundance of music clips, video and photos on this website. Not, perhaps, shiny baubles of production, but shiny gems of life's momentary inspirations.
